This is not that other program, the one that has you running a 5k in only 8 or 9 weeks.

Step 1:

Start at the Right Place

There is one right starting point for you, and it’s based on your current health and fitness, your goal, your schedule, your life.

The biggest mistake you can make is to start with some random pattern of walking and running and an arbitrary distance. I have you take a diagnostic test that guides us to your starting point. That’s why it works.

Step 2:

Progress Gradually

Forget moving to a new level each week. Move to the next level only when the last one seems easy.

No sweat, no stress, leads to success.

There will be time to sweat and push hard, if you want, down the road, after you’ve done half a dozen races - if that’s your goal - but there should be none of that in the first few months.

The goal, now, is to get you to that first milestone, that first mile.

Step #3: Consistency

Sticking with it, whatever number of workouts you have time for each week, is the key. If it’s only two, then do two. Do what you can, just stick with it.

One program, three options, something for everyone.

Two million people will start running this year.

Will you be one of them?

The Walk to Run to 5k Program

My program emphasizes starting with walking, then adding a little running, then a little more, over time, then, over time, reducing the walking segment time, but the bedrock of my method is that you must progress slowly, you must enjoy it, because if you don’t keep at it, if you don’t continue and become a lifetime runner, then what’s the point?

What People Are Saying

“I started running a few years ago to improve my health and fitness. I soon found many benefits from running, but I didn’t enjoy the running part of it. Now, through the Mojo for Running program and the podcasts I am really REALLY enjoying being a runner! I believe learning how to run properly, with Debbie’s coaching, has made all the difference.

“I started running earlier this year using a Couch to 5k app. After just one training session, I was AMAZED to find out that I LOVE running. But I knew little about it. In a Google search for advice on running, I found Debbie Voiles. Coach Deb offers a great program for anyone who wants to become a runner. No age is too old, no body shape is too large, no one is too out of shape.” — Beth Kauffman

“I first met Debbie Voiles at this marathon [San Francisco Marathon]. She appeared at the Run Tampa dinner that evening after having fallen at mile 17, gotten up and finished the race with a broken arm, and then gone to ER. Yet there she was at dinner being her charming self. I thought ‘I want to learn to run from THIS woman!’ ” — Kristen Antona

“Coach Deb knows what she is talking about--- if you are a beginning runner sign up for her beginning runner schedule-- you will feel confident that you can succeed--- it will give the overweight or older person who desires to be a runner a schedule that will give confidence of how to start with a plan that will get you there with more confidence of not being sidelined by injury.” — Thomas Marino

“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
